The unspoiled West Coast of South Africa is habited by tens of thousands of cormorants, cape gannets, duikers, seagulls and pelicans. Once arriving at Port Owen you find flamingo, oyster catchers and terns.  All watched closely by a pair of fish eagles, flying high above the dense reed shores.

In spring – after the winter rains - you will experience vast carpets of flowers.
The region is home to over 1.200 species, many of which are endemic and of unequal beauty. The West Coast flower season is world renown and many tourists come to witness the coast burst into a kaleidoscope of breathtaking colours.
The West Coast is home to plenty of game. You will find 'bokkies' along just about any road and within half an hours drive you can walk in the West Coast National Park with its beautiful fynbos and unspoiled beaches between ostriches, various antelopes and the blue wildebeest.
Going out to sea you will encounter plenty of playful and snoozing seals, the always funny African penguins and the graceful and peaceful southern right or humpback whales.
Sail or cruise up the Berg River, navigable for almost 45 kilometres! Feel comfortable embraced by nature and enjoy the diverse plethora of marine, bird and plant life.
Escape the asphalt jungle, go for a stroll along pristine beaches. Above all relax over a barbecue, sipping sundowners while listening to the rumbling sound of the Atlantic Ocean as it meets the shore.
Climate
The Mediterranean climate offers dry summers and winter rains. In spring carpets of wild flowers are on display as far as the eye can see while in summer you will find rain-free clear skies with a fresh southeasterly trade winds. In autumn balmy evenings will carve memories in your soul, and finally in winter silent rains nourish the young crops that turn the hinterland into a green carpet.
